The "La Société Nationale des Transports Transocéaniques" (National Society of Transocean Transports) had the Régalec constructed
in 1886 in order to open the first line between Paris and New York.
The crew was composed of 6 people and the train carriages were interchangeable so as to receive either 30 passengers in second class or 10 passengers in first class in sleeping cars.
